Fleet Alliance shortlisted for Glasgow Business Awards
August 2012

Fleet Alliance Charity Ball The Glasgow main office of leasing and fleet management provider, Fleet Alliance, has been shortlisted in the fifteenth annual Glasgow Business Awards in the category ’Best Performing Business over 25 employees’.

Fleet Alliance, which manages over 10,000 vehicles on behalf of corporate clients, has also previously been a finalist in the National Business Awards (Scotland) for growth strategy of the year, and was also highly commended at those awards for its overall performance.

Organised by the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, the Glasgow Business Award for Best Performing Business (over 25 employees) is sponsored by the Glasgow School for Business and Society, part of Glasgow Caledonian University.

The award is aimed at larger businesses which have successfully grown their organisation and now operate with over 25 employees, and successful organisations must demonstrate key characteristics such as strong leadership and a clearly defined vision for achieving growth through strategic objectives.

Performance throughout the organisation will be effectively measured and the organisational culture will demonstrate an approach to business, based on encouraging employee development, creativity and empowerment.

Other finalists, in what is recognised as the toughest category within this year’s awards, include a Fleet Alliance client, international pool builder, Barr & Wray, travel agent, Barrhead Travel and ‘daily deals’ website, Itison.

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted in this year’s Glasgow Business Awards,” said Martin Brown, managing director of Fleet Alliance.

“We had a very strong sales year last year with a growth rate in the high teens and now manage over 10,000 vehicles for the first time in our history. This was down to a combination of factors, including our strategic decision to target the mid-size corporate sector, plus continued growth in our core SME market.

“We also saw more clients introducing our e-fleet fleet management system and taking more vehicles from us, so that they can manage them all from one common platform. This year has carried on in a very similar vein,” he said.

The winners of the Glasgow Business Awards 2012 will be announced at a gala awards ceremony and dinner on Thursday, October 4 at the Thistle Glasgow Hotel.
