We are delighted to be awarded the Best Workplaces for Women 2023.
It is the third time we have been recognised for the quality of our workplace for women, this is in addition to Fleet Alliance being a great place to work.
Fleet Alliance is a fully inclusive company, but it’s particularly rewarding to note that we are a great place to work for women simply because we’re in the motor industry, which is a traditionally male dominated area.
But we don’t see it that way.
Fleet Alliance is a business for all. “Everyone is friendly and treats you as an equal regardless of your gender,” explains Olivia Newberry, a Software Developer with us.
We believe this attitude is underpinned by our core fundamentals of
- Fairness,
- Trust,
- Engagement, and
- Respect
Make all those elements work, and you have an environment in which women are welcomed and valued.
It’s not just tokenism, either.
To qualify for this award, you must have a minimum of 25% women in the workplace – the Fleet Alliance score here is 55%; there must be a minimum of 20% women in mid-management roles – the Fleet Alliance score is 40%; and at least one women on the board of directors or in senior executive positions – Fleet Alliance has 33%.
“At Fleet Alliance, our shared values fuel a thriving community where every woman is valued, supported, and inspired to reach her fullest potential,” adds Angela Robertson, who sits on the Fleet Alliance board of directors as Finance Director.
The working environment ensures a relaxed but focused workplace, helped by flexible hybrid working. There’s three days working in the office and two days working from home for all staff, while monthly wellbeing sessions are there to help support the physical and mental health of employees.
“Throughout my experience at Fleet Alliance, I have always felt welcomed and valued as a woman. Personally, I have been given incredible opportunities to develop professionally, despite working in a predominantly male-led role.” – Lindsey, Junior business analyst and junior tester.
Other great little perks include a full day off for Christmas shopping and for your birthday (not to mention the £20 birthday gift voucher), fresh fruit delivered to the office weekly and once a month we allow employees to finish at 4pm so they can enjoy after work drinks with colleagues provided by Fleet Alliance.
We believe it all helps to make the workplace welcoming, valued and special.
We also believe that women will be more engaging to nontraditional automotive customers as the pace of car electrification intensifies in the UK.
A study by the University of Sussex and Aarhus University in Denmark found that women will drive the electric transition if they are marketed to as a group around areas that resonate, such as the environment.
As the traditional petrol-head element of automotive choice declines, we think there will be significant change around the drivers of choice. And the Fleet Alliance women – along with the men – will be assisting customers in choosing their next zero emission vehicle. In a workplace that values all its employees.
As Social Media Manager Charlie Strand says:
“Fleet Alliance is an amazing company to work for. I have never worked somewhere where you genuinely feel like one big team, and everyone is willing to go above and beyond to help each other. Fleet Alliance provides fair opportunities for all in the workplace and offers a great sense of value and empowerment to all its employees.”
